CHA MUC (FRIED SQUID CAKE)
Cha Muc is regarded as one of Vietnam’s top regional specialities. and it is unquestionably the most popular dish in Quang Ninh and Halong Bay. In fact, the local fisherman insist that only squid caught in Ha Long may be used for this meal. The method of painstakingly hand-grinding the squid meat, which is then mixed with secret local spices, shaped into rounds, and fried till golden brown, is what gives this meal its rich flavor. Steamed or sticky rice with fish sauce, or banh cuon (steamed rice rolls) pair nicely with the exquisite aroma and crispy texture of Cha Muc.
Once traveling to Ha Long, this is a specialty symbolizing the area that tourists cannot forget to bring home as a gift for friends or relatives.
